Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption Analytics - Transactions with Black-Listed Countries

Hi All,

One of the key tests for anti-bribery and anti-corruption analytics is to identify any business transaction with entities in black-listed countries.

So if we match our database of cross-border financial transactions with the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) list of "Non-Cooperative Countries or Territories" (NCCTs); i.e., countries perceived to be non-cooperative in the global fight against money laundering and terrorist financing we can identify potential transactions with such countries.

IDEA can play a very useful role in this regard.

IDEA's Search feature will allow the user to look for financial transactions where the destination country contains specific country references from the FATF list.

Using Search the user can apply a search criteria in the text box like -

*country a* OR *country b* .....

This search is powerful as it follows the contains principle and is not case sensitive.

This can also be done by applying a Direct Extraction criteria -

@isini("country a", destination country) .OR. @isini("country b", destination country)......

Kind Regards

Jairam

Below is an extract from my book that list the high risk countries as of April 20, 2014.

"Create a list or file containing countries that are considered high risk for money laundering and extract transactions with those countries. At the time of writing, the Financial Action Task Force recommends applying countermeasures to protect the financial system when dealing with Iran and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea). They also indicate that Algeria, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Syria, Turkey and Yemen have not made sufficient progress to correct identified deficiencies."
