I'm looking to import files of HL7 messages. HL7 is a heirarchical message format specific to healthcare. Has anyone flattend a hl7 file, or know of any tools to flatten them prior to import? Or any generaladvice for flattening a heirichacal dat file in general...as you can see, i need your help! :)

I'm not familiar with HL7 files, but would love to try and help you out. Can you attach a generic sample data file that doesn't contain true personal information so I can get a better understanding of the original file layout.
Also, what export options are available from the program. You say you want to flatten the file, but what type of file is it, delimited, fixed length, HTML, XML, PDF? Perhaps choosing a different export option with make you import to IDEA run more smoothly.
