Problem with IDEA when Using 2 Monitors

Hello,

I am using IDEA by extending my desktop across my laptop screen and another big monitor.

But when I am using IDEA in my laptop, I realise that some windows in IDEA will be missing / out of sight.

Is this an existing problem with IDEA? If yes, are there any resolutions for this?

Thanks and Regards!

Hi Fong,

This happens when you go from a multi monitor environment to one.  IDEA doesn't actually lock-up you just can't see the screen, usually the equation editor gives you this problem.

Recently someone told me that if you go to the task bar and select cascade this will fix the problem, I haven't actually tried it yet.

The way I have been fixing the problem is using the Alt + Space and hitting M and then using the cursor or mouse to move the window.

So if I hit Alt + Space it brings up the following menu:

You can then hit M to move it to another spot.  Different language versions of IDEA and Window it might be different so you might want to try this first in a multi monitor environment or do a google search for the key combination for your language.

Thanks

Brian

That is correct. The Alt - Space - M combo keys will definitely get you back to a single screen. Happened to me a couple of times and then I made sure all the screens were in the right place before disconnecting the the 2nd monitor.

Using Alt + Space + M combo keys work for me.

Thanks for both of your help, Brian Element and Sunder Gee.
