SO, has anyone ever had idea installed on a vm?
I'm presuming it'd be similar to local install - 1 macine:1 license.
But -
1) Has anyone done it? , and
2) Was performance acceptable?
Thanks in advance!

Hi Rob, I am now with CaseWare and I do it all the time with no problems and I know of clients that have done it with no problems. Performance can be acceptable so long as the VM has enough resources for IDEA to run properly. If you have any concerns you should reach out to IDEA Support as they can probably give more detailed information.
Terrific, Brian, and thanks!
Hello Brian,
I am trying to install IDEA on a normal laptop but getting the error message that "This product is not supported on a virtual machine". Does it mean that im trying to install on a VM?
Thank you!
Hi Sandrine, for a problem like this I recommend you contact Caseware IDEA support as they are in a better position to figure out why you might be getting this error.

IDEA support will definitely be in the best position to help you out.
Alrighty! Thank you
As far as I know all depends on the license of IDEA:
It's not possible to run the Single license of IDEA in a VM. Even if IDEA is not really running in a VM, but special security features of HyperV are used on the computer, the message "This product is not supported on a virtual machine" can appear.
With the Enterprise license, however, there are no problems when installing IDEA with VM functions.
