IDEA Caseware Script development
Forums
Developing an IDEA Script consisting of **four sequential dialog boxes**:
1. **Employee Information Dialog Box_1**
The first dialog box will capture employee-related information through input text boxes, such as **Name, Age, and Department**. Once the user completes the required information and clicks **OK**, the script will proceed to the next dialog box. If it press “Cancel” cancel the sciprt with message of “Hello Name you have cancelled the script
2. **File Selection and Field Mapping Dialog Box2**
The second dialog box will provide **file selection through a drop-down list** and allow the user to perform the required **primary field mapping**. After completing the selections and clicking **OK**, the script will proceed to the next dialog box.
3. **Test Selection and Execution Dialog Box3**
The third dialog box will display a list of available tests with **checkboxes**. Each checkbox will have a corresponding **test description**.for e.g.
a) Provide list of employees which have joined after 01-01-2026.
b) Provide list of employees for duplicate PAN No
c) List of employees of top 25 (user input filed) highly paid in 2026
d) List of employees who have attendance is less than 3 (user input field) days during 2026
e) Employees having same telephone nos
f) Project wise employee hours
g) Etc..
can select the required tests, and upon clicking **OK**, the selected tests will be executed.
4. **Execution Progress and Report Dialog Box**
The final dialog box will display the **overall execution time**, the **progress/status of the selected tests**, and the **export status/progress of the final report**.
The objective is to create a user-friendly, sequential IDEA Script workflow where each dialog box captures the required information and passes the selections to the next stage until the final report is generated and exported.
I have created similiar…
I have created similiar scripts like this in the past.
In part one what are you doing with that information and why would it be needed? If we are asking for that information we should be doing something with it.
2 - In order to do this section we need to know the fields that are needed to run the test. This would be based on the tests offered in part 3. Once the user selects the file then the dropdown boxes for the field selections would be populated.
3 - For this dialog we would have to know the list of tests that are used.
4 - This one would be based on the results of the test and what information you want to give back to the user.
